Fishing in the North Country


 Some say the waterways of the North Country of New Hampshire and Vermont are the best New England has to offer. Whether you are a life long angler or a "newbie" to the ways of freshwater fishing you will not be disappointed in the many opportunities that await you just minutes from your cottage.  From the Connecticut River that divides New Hampshire and Vermont, Connecticut Lakes in Pittsburg, and the many other lakes, rivers and ponds within in a quick drive the options will be endless. Your fishing adventure will offer you the chance to reel in a variety of species of trout that live in our waters, as well as landlocked salmon, bass and pike. There are several Fishing Outfitters in the local area that we can set you up with for a fulfilled day. 



Whether you’re fly-fishing for big rainbows or tossing a line in while enjoying a riverside picnic, fishing New Hampshire’s Great North Woods will be an experience you will long remember. Relax in a quiet and beautiful natural surroundings. Don't be surprised if you see a moose, osprey or loons while waiting for that nibble.  There’s said to be no better place than New Hampshire’s North Country to get away from it all and go fishing. If you are not here for Catch and Release fishing and are looking to take that trophy catch home with you, don't worry. You can clean and freeze them right on  property and store until you are ready to head home. 

Free Fishing Day
New Hampshire and Vermont both offer a Free Fishing Day.
This is done to allow people to explore the sport and enjoy this relaxing hobby.  New Hampshire offers a free fishing day on the first Saturday of each June.  Vermont is traditionally on the second Saturday of June.


Hunting in New Hampshire

Mohawk Cottages are the perfect place to use as your base for hunting trips up North. Plenty of room to relax by the fireplace after a day out hunting. We can even provide a secure storage area for your trophy !
